BIG NEWS

Story by Gabriella Shury April 24th, 2017

I am so excited to share with you that I’ve been given the opportunity to continue to serve full-time in Kibaale, Uganda! I have spent the majority of the last two and a half years living and volunteering here and I am so excited to finally, officially call it home.

Uganda quickly felt like home on my first trip here, and each time I have returned home to Vancouver I have booked a flight back as soon as I could! Although I love my time in Vancouver, and am so thankful for wonderful friends and family as well as my job at Cornerstone Montessori School, I am always eager to get back to the place that I so strongly feel called to.

Ever since my first trip here, I have been prayerfully considering what my role with Kibaale might look like long-term. I have always hoped that I would have the opportunity to move here and take on a more permanent role but wasn’t sure what that role would look like as a young, single woman. Recently however, God has given me so much confirmation that this is where He is calling me to be at this point in my life, regardless of my age or relationship status!

This was never necessarily my plan, but working in Africa is something I have dreamed of for as long as I can remember! Although a long-term commitment can be a bit scary, with constant prayer for clear direction and guidance, I am so confident in this decision.

So, at the end of August I will be leaving Canada and once again call Uganda home! I will be taking on the role of Sponsorship Coordinator here in Kibaale. My position will include donor relations, database management, overseeing the Special Gifts program, and hosting teams and visitors. My contract will be an 18-month commitment and I am open to whatever I am feeling called to when that time is up.

I have been so blessed by everyone’s love, prayers, and support throughout my time in Uganda so far and would love to ask you to be a part of this journey with me once again. Your prayers are invaluable to me as I am working overseas! I would love to have continued prayer as I am making the move, settling in, and continuing my work here in Kibaale. If you feel called to do so, please keep me in your prayers.

I also have a need for financial support; my goal is to raise $20,000. Monthly and one-time donations will receive a tax receipt.
